East Cooper Land Trust hosts third “Butterfly Fling”

Moultrie News

This Saturday, September 22nd, the public is invited to a butterfly event in the butterfly garden at Marsh View Trail from 9:00-11:00 a.m. This free event is hosted by East Cooper Land Trust – a local conservation nonprofit organization that holds a conservation easement on 57 acres at this location off Rifle Range Road in Mount Pleasant, which is owned by Mount Pleasant Waterworks.

Children are invited to come explore the magical world of butterflies, moths and plants in the butterfly garden at Marsh View Trail. There will also be an educational presentation from South Carolina Master Gardener, Jackie Ashbaugh, and kids’ activities. A limited number of Milkweed plants will be sold for your home butterfly garden and donations will be accepted for the maintenance of the garden.

Funds raised from this event support the local land conservation efforts of the East Cooper Land Trust and the upkeep of the butterfly garden at Marsh View Trail. The garden was originally created in 2012 in partnership with Mount Pleasant Waterworks and many volunteers. A group of volunteers works in the garden weekly to help it be a beautiful and educational community asset.

As a non-profit, non-political organization serving communities between the Cooper and Santee Rivers, East Cooper Land Trust relies on the community’s financial support. East Cooper Land Trust saves land for children to safely run, play and experience nature; connects you and your neighbors to nature, parks, and food via a safe trail system; and collaborates with our local government to make conservation a priority.
